Spray dryer

A spray dryer takes a liquid stream and converts the solution into solids and the solvent into vapor. The solids are usually collected in a drum or cyclone. The liquid inlet stream is converted into a hot vapor stream through an inlet and evaporated. The solids are rapidly separated from the droplets in the form of moisture. The inlet is usually used to create droplets of a small size to maximize heat transfer and water evaporation rate. The droplet size may range from 20 to 180 micrometers depending on the inlet type.
